Description

 

We are looking for an experienced chemist and people leader to join Process Chemistry R&D, as Senior Manager with the overall responsibility of leading the Chemical Production Management (CPM) unit within the department. This offers a great opportunity to be part of a great team and to play a key role in supporting Lundbeck’s development pipeline (small molecules) and help develop new medicines to treat Central Nervous System (CNS) diseases.

The CPM unit, herein this position, is situated at Lundbeck’s API production site at Lumsås.

Chemical Production Management (CPM) is a key component of Process Chemistry R&D, which is part of the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) organization, where our goal is to scale-up and implement new synthetic processes as well as the GMP manufacture of novel Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). The area of Process Chemistry R&D is fully integrated encompassing Route Scouting, Process Optimization, Scale Up, Safety assessment, and GMP manufacture.

 

 

Your job and key responsibilities

 

As a Senior Manager in the CPM unit, you will be involved in many aspects of the development value chain, e.g. raw material sourcing, technology transfers, environmental and safety assessments, process up-scaling, process implementation and GMP manufacture. You will be working in a strong team environment within CPM as well as a strong collaborative environment within the whole CMC Area.

 

 

Your key responsibilities include:

 

  • Overall operational, facility and EHS responsibility for CMC pilot plants
  • Leadership and guidance for Pilot Plant scientists and technicians
  • Ensure the overall team deliverables are met and aligned with project timelines
  • Cross-functional project coordination and management of internal and external stakeholders
  • Handling of process transfers, either from route design, or to commercial production
  • Capacity and resource planning and optimization providing alignment with project plans
  • Scientific assessment for process development and implementation activities
  • Coordination and scientific input provider in sourcing and outsourcing activities
  • Safety and environmental risk assessment for chemical processes
  • Maintenance of Quality Management System and participation in audits and inspections.

Qualifications and competencies

 

Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional attributes:

  • Preferable, you have a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, potentially supplemented by industrial experience
  • You thrive in a Team environment of shared goals and responsibilities
  • It is an advantage if you are experienced in leading teams of both academic and technical staff
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to develop, implement, and clearly communicate strategies and plans to team, management and collaborators in English and Danish.
