About the department

Global Public Affairs and Patient Relations is part of the Global Public Affairs & Sustainability area in Novo Nordisk. We aspire to be a proactive and solutions-oriented partner to patients and policymakers in the joint ambition to raise the standards of care in our therapy areas and help solve society’s fundamental challenges.

The Position

As our Senior Public Affairs Advisor on China, you will be responsible for driving and implementing our public affairs strategy in close, multi-disciplinary collaboration with colleagues in China, International Operations, and Global Headquarters. In addition, you will assist Novo Nordisk Region China in their external engagement and advocacy efforts with particular emphasis on central government bodies responsible for implementing the Health China 2030 blueprint.

Key responsibilities include:

· Ensuring seamless cooperation between Global Headquarters and the Chinese affiliate by delivering timely, high-quality assets such as policy positions, data, and evidence, guidance on the implementation of global flagship initiatives, communication tools, and capability-building support

· Supporting strategy development and execution of external engagement and advocacy efforts

· Assessing and analysing key policy trends, risks, and opportunities in the Chinese healthcare ecosystem and their potential impact on Novo Nordisk

· Developing health policy positions with global insights

· Working strategically with key external partners, including trade associations and representing Novo Nordisk in relevant global organisations, fora, and projects

· Travel activity to meet internal and external stakeholders will be expected

Qualifications

The preferred candidate holds a master’s degree in political science, international business, or a related field, combined with a minimum of 5-7 years of work experience in the industry, consultancy, or public institutions – preferably from the pharmaceutical or other policy-driven, highly regulated sectors. You work internationally and, ideally, have significant experience in dealing with China. 

You can establish a deep understanding of and navigate complex political environments and decision-making processes. 

In addition, you are a curious team player with excellent interpersonal skills and like to challenge the status quo as you pursue opportunities and create tangible solutions as a response to complex problems. You possess a strategic and analytical mindset, take the initiative, and bring projects to their successful completion. Lastly, you contribute to a dynamic and inclusive working environment.

We expect you to have excellent communication and presentation skills and strong command of both written and spoken English. Proficiency in Mandarin would be an asset but is not a requirement.
