The team for you to join
We are strengthening our Novel Product Formats team in the R&D Process Science & Development area and are therefore looking for a specialist within coating technologies and downstream processing of bacterial cultures.

Process Science & Development sets the standard within production of bacterial cultures in Chr. Hansen. The function has extensive expertise regarding development of robust and feasible fermentation and downstream processes for production of bacterial cultures. Our core activities are to create fermentation and downstream processes in pilot scale in order to up-scale and implement in Chr. Hansen’s culture plants globally. For this work the department has laboratories and access to Pilot Plant facilities suitable for extensive experimentation, data logging and the use of advanced techniques for measurement of biomass quality. In our Novel Product Formats Department you will reinforce the existing team of 4 competent and engaged colleagues working in a creative environment. The department cooperates with customers, colleagues -across different geographical locations, CMO/CROs, universities and research institutes both nationally and internationally. 

What would your role look like?
This is an outstanding and unique scientific position where your responsibilities will focus on developing novel formulations, microencapsulation and coating processes for microorganisms in small and pilot scale – and to implement these solutions at production scale. During this work it is expected that you:

  • Work closely together with external contractors during development and production process
  • Conducting downstream processing, formulation and coating studies, validation activities, and characterization activities of biologic products
  • Trouble-shoot problems in production within coating of bacteria
  • Who are we looking for? 

  • You hold a PhD or M.Sc. degree within process technology or chemical engineering or a similar field. Additionally, you have 5+ years of experience in developing coating/microencapsulation processes for sensitive compounds
  • You have a proven experience in scale-up and implementation of coating processes in production scale and a hands-on experience in use of fluidized bed processes for coating, spray congealing, spray agglomeration 
  • We work in cross-functional projects, therefore responsibility, engagement and team playing are core values for you – as it is for us
  • You like to be hands on with your work and find innovative solutions together with your colleagues in the laboratory
  • You work independently and systematically, and you are quality-conscious and keep a high level of documentation of your work
