Senior Service Engineer - SAP

Are you excited about working directly with Microsoft customers and partners to ensure success as they move forward with cloud computing?  Do you want to be part of an engineering team that is looking to get a new service off the ground? If so, keep reading! 

We are the Azure Customer Experience (CXP) team- a fast growing Engineering team of customer obsessed & passionate individuals that drive positive customer outcomes and experiences. FastTrack (FT) for Azure is our newest initiative; a customer success service to help customers confidently onboard to Azure and getting them on the right track to “build it right, architect it right, the first time”. FT takes a solution-centric approach and provides customers with Engineering resources, best practices, tools and resources that drive Azure usage. 

We are looking for thoughtful, analytical, high energy exceptional talent multi-skilled in SAP, DBMS, Linux and HANA technologies. The candidate will have good experience in architecting SAP Solutions including HANA on the enterprise class infrastructure on-premise and/or Cloud Platform. The candidate is expected to be a global resource working with customers and partners, physically and virtually, throughout the world.  

Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility include: 

  • Act as the subject matter expert for SAP on Azure
  • Design SAP solutions covering High Availability and Disaster recovery for SAP Netweaver systems including HANA on Cloud or a Hybrid environment. 
  • Provide solution options of deployment and operations for SAP solutions on Cloud or a Hybrid environment.   
  • Helping customers migrate and/or build SAP workloads throughout their Azure journey towards production and expanding their cloud footprint.
  • Directly engage with customers to validate new solutions and POC’s; update modules per learnings and feedback.
  • You will partner with various Azure Engineering subject matter experts including the Presales and Customer Advisory team to scope and build customer facing content, modules, tools and proof of concepts.
  • Staying current on latest Azure/Cloud innovations in order to conduct experiments, drive product improvement, and act as a SAP subject matter trainer for other engineers.
  • Interact daily with other FastTrack Engineers to provide technical action plans or take ownership of situations that require escalation.
  • Share knowledge with others through solution documents, engage technical communities, build automated self-help solutions and create training.

 

Qualifications

Successful Candidate Competencies:

  • Experience engaging with customers and partners to understand their architecture and map those into Azure IaaS for SAP and HANA tailored service.
  • Experience in High Availability and Disaster recovery for SAP technology including HANA on premise/on Cloud or a Hybrid environment.      
  • Deep technical understanding of the SAP workload and eco-system; Technical proficiency in SAP NetWeaver architecture; Deployment and operating practices, SAP HANA and non-functional requirements of SAP (like Performance oriented practices, Backup and Recovery, Scale, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, SAP platform (OS/DB) migrations) required
  • Basic knowledge in areas of compute, network and storage.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics effectively to different audiences such as SAP Basis administrators, Network administrators, and senior leadership or customers.  
  • Customer and Partner Focus: proven experience driving business impact based on a deep understanding of customer and partner needs.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively drive recommendations and land priorities across customers, partners, senior executives and across organizational boundaries.
  • Dealing with ambiguity: must have the ability to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple demands and shifting priorities.
  • Collaboration: exceptional collaborator on complex multi-faceted programs
  • Familiarity with cloud deployment and development tools (ie. PowerShell, Visual Studio, .NET, Python) 
  • Familiarity with cloud networking concepts, connectivity (geo-redundancy, CDN, VPN) and tools 

 

Qualifications Recommended: 

  • 6+ years of experience working as a SAP BASIS Administrator
  • 3+ years of experience working as a SAP Technical Architect with a mix of architecture and technical lead roles.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Candidate should also have excellent customer service skills, good oral and written communication skills, proven ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations involving the most critical and politically charged customer situations; to lead projects and to motivate others.   
  • Consulting and/or Delivery experience a plus
