If you wish to participate in changing the quality of life for millions of people living with chronic diseases and you are innovator who loves to challenge the status quo. We are currently looking for an experienced molecular cell biologist who will help us to drive the innovation forward.

The position

We are seeking a talented molecular cell biologist with a strong background in in vitro target identification and validation within cardiometabolic diseases to join our Muscle & Adipose Biology team.

There will be an emphasis on developing advanced human cell-based disease models. Hence, experience in models such as co-culture systems, organoids, organs-on-chip or micro-physiological models is considered an advantage. Additionally, experience performing and analysing sequencing data is preferred.

The successful candidate will be responsible for exploring and progressing novel target opportunities, executing on established projects, and setting up new cell-based model systems. This includes design of in vitro studies to validate human relevance, assessing translational tools and exploration of a target’s putative mechanism of action.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team exploring and identifying new treatment options for diabetes, cardiovascular and kidney disease. Working closely with scientists and technicians throughout the organisation to move projects forward across the value chain. Furthermore, you will take part in evaluating potential external opportunities from academia, biotech or pharma.

You hold a Ph.D. and have a minimum of 8 years of experience in academia and/or pharma/biotech industry within biological sciences, medicine or biological engineering. You have a proven scientific track-record within cardiometabolic disease pathophysiology and/or you have profound expertise in molecular cell biology and metabolism.

International work experience and a solid international scientific network is mandatory. In addition to your scientific profile, you are a dedicated, open-minded, and an innovative team player with good collaboration and problem-solving skills. You are organized and result oriented.

About the department

The Diabetes & Metabolism department is part of Global Diabetes and Cardio-Renal Research, a cross functional research area within Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s new strategy within chronic diseases, the team will focus on target identification, target validation and pre-clinical characterisation of new assets to become novel treatment options for patients with cardiometabolic diseases. In Diabetes and Metabolism Biology we work in an organ-centric and disease agnostic manner. We have two teams, Muscle & Adipose Biology and Liver & Gut Biology, working with high interdependencies to develop, characterise and use in vitro tools to elucidate mode-of-action and profiling of novel biology and molecules for early evaluation of drug candidates.
