Software and robotics support position

SDU Robotics, part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark, located in Odense, invites applications for potentially several software and robotics support positions with start in August 2019.

The candidate will be integrated into the SDU Robotics Section specialized in robot solutions involving sensorial processing, mathematical modeling, learning and simulation targeted at advanced robot systems, for industrial but also other application domains. The group is involved in a variety of national and European projects. The aim of the group is to solve challenging research problems from real applications and to participate in implementing the achieved results into real solutions with end users.

The work and responsibilities for the applicant will be within the areas of:

• Software development and maintenance of infrastructures that support the software development in SDU Robotics.
• Development of software for interfacing the hardware used in robot systems.
• Setting up and maintaining physical robot setups and sensor systems.
• Maintaining and extending our Linux based IT infrastructure.
• Support for research and educational activities in the group.

The applicant we are looking for should therefore be:

• experienced with tools and infrastructures to support software development (e.g. CMake, Git/GitLab and continuous integration).
• experienced with implementing software solutions in C++.
• experienced with generic software frameworks and frameworks used in SDU Robotics (e.g. Boost, Qt, ROS, RobWork and CAROS).
• used to work with physical robot cells.
• able to work in a team, but also take responsibility and work independently.

Prior experiences within robotics and/or computer vision are a requirement. It is expected that the candidate has documented qualifications related to the position, for example, shown by a degree in engineering within these fields.
