Job Description

Zendesk is looking to welcome a frontend staff software engineer to the team Ohana! We are focused on the content management in the Guide - an intelligent self-service knowledge base empowering thousands of agents with the ability to serve millions of customers. Most of the time we work in a remote setup.

We truly believe that to build a phenomenal experience one needs great people. We enjoy working with other qualified, focused folks who care about both the product and the code they write. We value collaboration, pair and ensemble programming, BDD/TDD, automated testing, and frequent small releases. We are all responsible for what we deliver and enjoy the impact we have.

Actively participate in all aspects of the software delivery process. From system design discussions and documentation, through hands-on coding to deployment and maintenance. Spend the time and effort to provide solutions that are "just right" as a passionate problem solver.
 

What you bring to the role

No one is perfect, and we don't expect anyone to know everything. Don’t hesitate to apply if you don’t check fully all the items below.

  • Excellent programming skills in Javascript and experience with React and GraphQL.

  • Deep knowledge of HTML and CSS.

  • Pragmatism mixed with an ability to see the big picture.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to different audiences.

  • Understanding of engineering practices such as BDD, TDD, pair/ensemble programming, code/design review, etc.

  • Passion for problem-solving!

  • Eagerness to learn, to grow, to become better.
     

  • Nice to have:

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails or NodeJS and Typescript on the server-side.

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes,

  • CQRS, Event Sourcing, and asynchronous service architectures.
     

  • Tech Stack

  • React, Apollo, GraphQL, Styled Components, Jest, Cypress, Webpack, and Yarn on the frontend.

  • Ruby, Node, Apollo Server, GraphQL, TypeScript, and also Yarn on the backend.

  • Monitoring and analytics like DataDog, BigQuery, AWS ecosystem.

  • Garden Component library.

  • A sophisticated deployment system allowing the release of multiple branches in parallel for testing or staged release.
