Student Assistant for the Center for Chromosome Stability, Panum Institute, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen

The Center for Chromosome Stability ( http://www.ccs.ku.dk ) is seeking a motivated student assistant for one year, with the possibility for extension. The post is available on May 1st, 2018, or soon thereafter.

Background

The CCS is a center of excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. Its mission is to conduct basic biomedical research on the role of chromosome abnormalities in the development of human disease. The CCS is anchored in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine ( http://www.icmm.ku.dk ) and supports seven scientific groups comprising postdoctoral fellows, PhD students and experienced laboratory technicians.

Terms of employment

The position will be supervised by the CCS laboratory manager, Frederick Luk. Because of the international make-up of the center, the working language is largely English. The position will be paid by the hour according to Labor Grade 1 and the employment will be in accordance with the current agreement between the Danish Government and HK-stat (Dansk Laborant-forening). It is expected that the post-holder will require flexibility in their working hours, but 10-15 hours on average per week would be desirable. The employment is conditional upon the post-holder being enrolled as a student at a University.

Job tasks

The tasks performed will vary from week-to-week, but will include:

  • Maintaining stocks of supplies and consumables
  • Assisting with maintenance of the CCS labs and offices
  • Participate in daily and weekly CCS operational routines (deliveries/storage etc)
  • Basic laboratory support

Application

Applications should be in English and include:

  • A cover letter explaining your motivation to take the post
  • A curriculum vitae

The deadline for receipt of applications is May 1st, 2018.
