Student Assistant, Operational Business Intelligence

We are seeking two top performing, ambitious and high-caliber Student Assistants to join our department. You will be part of a well-functioning team responsible for operational and safety performance improvements within Maersk Drilling.   

We Offer  

You will be working in the Operational Business Intelligence team that supports a multitude of stakeholders in Operations and with frequent collaboration with other functions within Maersk Drilling. The team consists of 7 colleagues including you and in addition we have a support team in Mumbai.   You will be part of an international and dynamic workplace where you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience about the performance drivers of Maersk Drilling. Furthermore, this position offers a broad range of cross-departmental collaboration The position is therefore a unique opportunity to not only understand how Maersk Drilling drives changes through performance indicators but also a way to build a strong network within the Maersk Drilling organization.   The main focus for 2018 will be to support the organization with accurate data, building and maintaining dashboards in PowerBI and to put further focus on statistical studies with the use of Operational, safety and HR data. You will be part of the BI journey where we transition from manual to automated processes as well as use data even more intelligently to identify potential performance improvement areas.   You will be part of a truly international company with our employees representing 65 nationalities. Key Responsibilities

 In this Student Assistant role, your main responsibilities will be:  

  • ? Assisting with performance data requests and recurring reporting 
  • ? Being responsible for developing new dashboards in PowerBI and maintain existing dashboards
  • ? Supporting the organization on KPI related questions  
  • ? Conducting ad-hoc studies including simple trend studies or support the team with more complicated statistical analysis based on data from multiple sources/programs  

 Who we are looking for 

We expect you to have a keen interest in data and analytics, and enjoy hands on experience with Business Intelligence and data management to better understand how these disciplines support a business. Additionally,  look for a position where you can apply the statics methods you excel in and want to be even better at.   You are a student currently enrolled in a university level programme, and have at least one year left in your education. Our ideal candidate possesses the following specific mindset and skills:  

  • Sees data as instrumental driving a high performance organization
  • Is comfortable with structuring and using data to track and ultimately predict performance  
  • Is able to explain complicated data and performance metrics in a simple manner that is easily understood by persons outside of the team, both through written and verbal communication
  • Has strong Excel and PowerPoint skills supported with knowledge with “R” or other statistical software
  • Insight into PowerBI and SQL is preferred      

Additionally:

  • You work in a structured and proactive manner and have high attention to detail
  • Have a high level of energy, can-do attitude and result oriented            
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken and have an international mind-set  
  • As we want you to be able to complete your studies on time, your expected working hours will be between 15-20 hours per week, with flexibility to work less during exam periods and more during semester breaks
