Student assistant (research) for the Center for Innovation at the Departments of Economics

Working as a Student Assistant at Department of Economics

At the Department of Economics (ECON), Copenhagen Business School (CBS) we regard it a central task to explain what motivates decision-makers, how economic institutions are — or should be — designed, and whether the interaction between institutional design and motivation leads to an efficient or optimal outcome from society's point of view. Our research is often related to specific challenges facing different organizations. We are looking for one (perhaps more) student assistants to support our research and work an average of 15 hours per week, but there is a large degree of flexibility, including during exam periods.

Specifics for the positions and your role

We are seeking to fill up to two positions that will be funded by the Center for Innovation (CFI) housed at the Department of Economics and led by Professor Anders Sørensen. The position is fixed term, one year in duration.

You will undertake various data tasks, including but not limited to data: collection, cleaning, summarization and management of a large dataset under the guidance of the research team.

You will be working in the Rockwool Foundation funded project ”Understanding Entrepreneurship Dynamics”. Some ad-hoc task will also be required.

The Person

You will have a good understanding of statistics, e.g., from the pursuit of an Economics degree and preferably some familiarity with STATA, SQL and econometrics. In addition, familiarity with machine learning methods is a plus but not necessary. You will have solid academic grades in your current studies; an ability to work independently as well as in teams; good organizational skills; and a willingness/enthusiasm to learn new methods. You are fluent in Danish and English.

When occupying the vacancies, we prioritize e.g.:

  • Knowledge of statistics and/or econometrics, register data, big data methods
  • Experience from previous occupation
  • Grades achieved

Salary and employment conditions

Employment will be according to the HK-organisationsaftale and the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Organisations of Public Employees – Denmark (OAO) (OAO-S Collective agreement).

The salary is between 126 and 132 DKK per hour depending on former clerical occupation and educational level. Pension contributions of 11.19 per cent are given to employees who have 9 months of occupation within the public sector and who are more than 20 years of age or employees who have previously had a labor market pension agreement.

It is a prerequisite for employment that you are a student enrolled at a Danish institution in higher education
