About the department
You will be a part of the Novo Nordisk Insulin production, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and assigned to Insulin Manufacturing 1 (IM1), the world’s largest Insulin manufacturing facility located in Kalundborg.
Insulin Manufacturing has 5 facilities operating under one roof. You will be employed in Insulin Manufacturing 1 Bioprocess Improvement - Optimization (IM1BIO), a group of 8 highly skilled colleagues plus Master of Sciences Students all working with advance process modelling, simulation, analysis, control, and optimization of (bio-) chemical processes.

The position
Your main tasks will vary and will be applied to challenges within Insulin Manufacturing 1 by applying multiscale modelling.
Examples of challenges:
- Process understanding formulated into an improvement problem which requires the development
- Incorporation of analysed data into a model of dynamic control
- Process improvement formulated into an optimization problem
- Identification of important (variable) inputs for selection of the best values for operations/new projects, mathematical programming for supply chain management
Since the nature of the job is student based, you will also have the opportunity to develop and learn how to apply R&D based concepts into real-world application using knowledge that you have and will gain from an academic degree.
Furthermore, you will gain experience in working in a global company, manufacturing environment and how data can be utilized with the current trend of industry 4.0. As a result, you'll be part of a company that values creativity, innovation, and the ability to collaborate with people from various backgrounds.
Qualifications
The candidate should be currently an Master’s student with following developing qualifications:
- Studying within the field of chemical engineering, industrial engineering, management, and/or mathematical modelling at a Danish university.
- NOTE: Applications from electrical engineers are most welcome if your focus is on process dynamics-control and would like to apply this to biochemical processes.
- Focus area of studies: process design, modelling, optimization, supply chain and/or data analysis.
- Understanding of basic process simulation programs, mathematical programming and/or process control theory.
- About to or already within an Masters of Sciences program
In addition to the foregoing, you like solving complicated problems by using a systems approach to manage complexity and arrive at a workable solution.
