Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Forensic Chemistry

University of Copenhagen seeks to appoint a Tenure Track Assistant professor in Forensic Chemistry at the Department of Forensic Medicine. The position will have a special focus on the detection and metabolism of new psychoactive substances.   
The tenure-track assistant professor will be affiliated with the Section of Forensic Chemistry. The section’s research is concerned with a wide range of areas related to chemistry/toxicology used within the legal framework ( 
The successful candidate must have a strong background in research concerning analytical methodology for detection and studies on metabolism of new psychoactive substances (NPS). Experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry techniques and in vitro metabolism studies using hepatocytes is expected. The candidate must have a PhD degree or  equivalent within the area advertised and must have shown research at international level. The candidate must have a great potential to have a major impact on international forensic chemistry in the future, and must actively contribute to the collective research environment in the section and department. 
The tenure-track assistant professor’s duties will primarily include 

  • Research including an obligation to produce scientific publications 
  • Translational forensic chemistry in order to implement new scientific achievements in forensic chemistry investigations in police cases 
  • Responsibility for the cell laboratory unit of the section 
  • Research-based teaching/tutoring.   
It will be an advantage if the applicant 
  • Has been working with forensic chemistry in an accredited laboratory  
  • Can document teaching experience at university level.   
The appointed candidate must be able to teach in both Danish and English.   
Assessment of applicants will primarily consider the level of documented, internationally competitive research. Teaching qualifications and teaching experience will be an advantage.

Terms of employment  
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. The terms of appointment and payment are in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the Danish State. The salary range starts at DKK 32,000 (EUR 4,267) + 17.1 % pension. It is possible to negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.  
The tenure-track programme 

A tenure-track assistant professorship is a six-year, fixed-term academic position. The successful candidate will take part in all usual activities of an assistant professor. Approximately six months before the end of the six-year period as tenure-track assistant professor, a committee set up by the Dean will assess whether the assistant professor is qualified for promotion as associate professor.
