Trade Manager for Mediterranean/North America, North America Trades

As Trade Manager for Mediterranean/North America, you will join the North America trades, one of five trade groupings in Centre Trade Management, which is a critical part of our Commercial organisation in Maersk Line.

Centre Trade Management is responsible for the overall strategy, and profit and loss (P&L) of individual trades. This includes setting direction, managing position-taking and long-term tenders and driving the strategic performance of our business.

The position reports to the Portfolio Manager for Transatlantic and Mediterranean trades.

Key responsibilities

As Trade Manager, you develop and execute the trade strategy through strong direction setting. You thus are responsible for setting the targets and driving the performance of a trade in accordance with the overall strategy for Maersk Line. You also will drive yield optimisation across services, countries and customers, by defining and communicating a clear position-taking and strategy for execution in close cooperation with a multitude of stakeholders.

As Trade Manager, your responsibilities will include, amongst other things, the following:
• Deliver the bottom-line and market share target agreed for the trade
• Develop and engage stakeholders in trade strategy and direction-setting for the trade through, amongst others:
o Market plan with segmentation, position-taking and commitment strategy
o Long-term pricing plan (pricing mandate)
o Create and realise business development plans 
o Trade Strategy Meetings and monthly performance calls
• Budgeting, including volumes and rates for your trade’s profit and loss and Internal Slot Charter negotiations with other Trades
• Give input to product development and evaluation for network planning and tonnage strategy
• Planning, pricing and performance management of long-term tenders to ensure delivery
• Coordination with your Maersk Line and Safmarine stakeholders around the world and in Copenhagen: Cluster Trade & Marketing, Sales, Liner Operations Centres, Uptake Management, Revenue Management, Vessel Sharing Agreement partners, Network Design, Finance and customers.

As Trade Manager, you will be expected to travel to your key markets, meeting the local organisations and working across international time zones.

• Extraordinary customer experience mindset, with a passion and focus on understanding customer needs and ensuring the best solutions
