Two Mass Spectrometry Staff Scientists (research consultants) for the Metabolomics PlatformThe Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic ResearchUniversity of Copenhagen. We are looking for two motivated and independent Staff Scientists with extensive experience in mass spectrometry to support the work of the Metabolomics Platform at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

The Center was established in 2010 through a generous, unrestricted grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF). The vision of the Center is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms our basic understanding of the mechanisms of metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies. In 2018, the Center obtained new strategic funding from NNF including substantial funding to establish and/or develop five enabling biology and technology platforms in support of the new research strategy. The Metabolomics Platform is a new research platform headed by Professor Thomas Moritz. You can read more about the platform at https://cbmr.ku.dk/facilities/metabolomics/



Your job

Your tasks will include carrying out global analyzes of metabolites in various biological sample matrices, so-called metabolomics, as well as developing strategies and methods for quantitative and qualitative analysis of specific metabolites in biological tissues and fluids. The work will include sample preparation, mass spectrometry (MS) and data processing of MS-data, as well as performing basic statistical data evaluation of metabolomics data. The positions include close contacts and collaborations with researchers at CBMR.



Your profile:

Essential criteria:

  • Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or a related field
  • Extensive practical experience with mass spectrometry-based analyzes
  • Knowledge in quality assessment and validation of methods
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English


Desirable criteria:

  • Experience with, and skills in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics analysis including data processing and univariate and multivariate statistics


Place of employment

The place of employment is in Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.



Terms of salary and employment

The employments as Staff Scientists (research consultant) are full time and permanent positions. Starting date is August 12, 2019, or after agreement. Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications.
