The position

You will be part of an international group of dedicated employees, comprised of scientists, laboratory technicians, and student workers, all focusing on translating stem cell-based cell therapies into the clinics, to ultimately treat patients suffering from diabetes-1. Some of your main tasks will include: Supporting our efforts in stem cell cultivation and differentiation across multiple platforms. Getting a tailored onboarding program where you will learn to cultivate, engineer, and differentiate human pluripotent stem cells in adherent and suspension culture Learning how to work and safely handle gene-edited cell lines Participating in the laboratory's daily work and interacting with technicians and scientists An important part of the position is to take part in organizing and maintaining laboratory consumables and equipment, including assembling, and cleaning bioreactor tanks and stocking up the labs. In collaboration with colleagues from our own and neighboring departments, you will be involved in planning, performing, and evaluating experiments aiming to improve our differentiation protocols toward the desired cell type. Analytical methods in the department include flow cytometric assays, single-cell expression analyses, histology, and imaging. Practicalities: Internship duration: 6 months (possibility to extend for 6 additional months) Working hours: Full-time (25-37 hours a week) Start date: end of March, beginning of April A Danish full-time work permit is required Internships are remunerated if your educational track allows. Qualifications You are currently enrolled in your Master’s degree or just finished the Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Human Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a similar field of study. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about stem cell biology, genome editing, and molecular assays, and preferably has hands-on experience with one or more of the following methods: cell culture of mammalian cells and specifically pluripotent stem cells, genome editing, macrophages, bioreactor, RNA/DNA purification, microscopy, data analysis, and interpretation. To succeed in this role you will need to have: Ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel (with supervision) A sound personal judgment to make decisions during your daily work A good understanding of cell signalling processes and molecular biology in general Fluent communication in English A strong work ethic and willingness to take responsibility for your projects and progress As a person, you are an outgoing team player with a strong personal drive and dedication. We expect you to have a well-structured and diligent approach at work, thrive in an innovative environment, and bring a can-do attitude. About the department You will be part of an international group of dedicated employees, composed of scientists, laboratory technicians, and student workers, focusing on the translation of stem cell-based cell therapies into the clinics. Promising proof-of-principle studies show that cell therapies can address unmet medical needs in a wide range of indications, including, but not limited to, implantation of stem cell-derived pancreatic beta-cells to address diabetes. However, the procedures available for the manufacture of these cells for clinical applications still need to be optimized. Our department with expertise in stem cell cultivation, genome editing, and immune assays is working on closing this gap, and we truly believe that stem cell therapies will make a difference in the lives of patients. Working at Novo Nordisk At Novo Nordisk, we don’t wait for change. We drive it. We’re a dynamic company in an even more dynamic industry, and we know that what got us to where we are today is not necessarily what will make us successful in the future. We embrace the spirit of experimentation, striving for excellence without fixating on perfection. We never shy away from opportunities to develop, we seize them. From research and development, through to manufacturing, marketing, and sales – we’re all working to move the needle on patient care.
