The Royal Danish Academy – Architecture, Design, Conservation invites applications for a permanent position as external lecturer with a particular focus on intersection of architecture, urban design and urban planning.

The vacant position is affiliated with Institute of Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape (IBBL). We hope to fill the position by August 1st, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Institute of Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape (IBBL, Institut for Bygningskunst, By og Landskab)

The institute’s disciplinary fields are the spatial change and development of buildings, cities and landscapes, historically and in the present. We understand architecture as an integral part of societal development, and we are committed to contributing to a better quality of life for the majority, as well as to the essential paradigm shift called for by the green transition. Our teaching, research and artistic research focus on the development of knowledge and methods in these fields and the production of substantive plans, proposals and strategies for sustainable and experience-rich cities and landscapes, housing areas and buildings. Typical starting points for research and development projects are urban and landscape development both in relation to the climate and biodiversity crises and to demographic and social change; architecture for well-being such as housing, urban spaces and architecture for health, education and culture in strategic and architectural perspectives. An additional focus is digital and analogue representation and didactics in our fields.

The institute’s teaching comprises one bachelor’s programme, two master’s programmes at Campus Holmen, and one bachelor’s programme and from 2026 also two master’s programmes at Campus Kalundborg. The institute currently also comprises the Joint Interdisciplinary Course in Urban Planning. The Institute also contributes to interdisciplinary teaching at the Royal Danish Academy.
