SYBO is growing. We’re releasing new games, building on the massive success of Subway Surfers as the most downloaded game of all time (4 billion downloads and counting!) and continuing to excite and surprise the most important people in the world: Our players!

We are a new games unit at SYBO games with the focus of prototyping gameplay quickly in order to find the fun. This role gives the candidate the ability to work within a rapid game making iterative structure. We’re still building the processes so you have a chance to influence it and bring your concepts to the table.

We’re looking for someone with a general understanding of core gameplay mechanics and the technical abilities to get a polished, feel good experience that can be shared with players on mobile devices. 

This internship is unpaid and full-time running for the fall semester in 2024.

Your time at SYBO

In your ramp-up month, you’ll spend time familiarizing yourself with how we work and the core gameplay tenants within the genres of games that aim to serve our wide ranging SYBO player base. Additionally you will begin outlining your first ideas.

In your contributor months, you’ll take full part of our early stage game making, whether this means jamming out new game ideas or working on improvements based on findings from playtests.

Responsibilities

• Work with core gameplay mechanics for mobile / touch screen devices

• Prototype simplistic gameplay ideas that can be playtested by peers and players

• Run playtests, gathering player feedback and relaying learnings

• Work with senior designers, producers and product managers to get a better understanding of Free to Play game systems and the overall vision of what it takes to build a commercial product

Requirements

• An understanding of digital game design principles

• Understanding of the Unity game engine

• Ability to prototype simple ideas 

It is a requirement to be enrolled in a university program that supports a full-time internship as part of the education - and you need to be able to commute to our Copenhagen office on a daily basis.

We do not offer relocation, VISA, or house search assistance for internships.

Bonus points

• Basic understanding of gameplay programming

• Photoshop/Figma or similar whereby ideation can be outlined in a clear and concise manner
