Industrial designer with interest in innovative military vests

Assisting on optimising a patented vest that protects against high energy radiation that offers optimal protection and ergonomic comfort for first responders and military personnel. The vest must be able to be worn for extended periods under demanding conditions and must integrate advanced materials and design principles.

The current vest is designed so that the plates with the protective elements overlap each other, but is challenged in terms of weight distribution. The design must demonstrate innovative use of materials and structures to optimize flexibility and weight distribution. Design a vest that offers optimal weight distribution, ergonomics and design.

1. Material selection:

   • Use materials with a focus on wear resistance and robustness. The vest carries heavy special metals and has a weight of between 12-18 kg, which is why the choice of materials must be able to support carrying this weight.

   • The vest must be adjustable and comfortable, with breathable materials and ventilation systems to manage body temperature and moisture.

2. Ergonomics and weight distribution:

   • The vest must be comfortable to wear, so that it can be adapted to individual protection needs and body sizes. The design must support full freedom of movement.

   • The design must ensure an even distribution of the vest's weight (between 12 and 18 kg), so that the strain is minimized and the user's endurance maximized.

3. Additional Functionalities:

   • Integrate pockets and attachment points for essential equipment as well as technology to monitor health status and radiation levels.
