For our generator design team, we are looking for a skilled colleague to help developing and maturing the direct drive technology. You will be at the cutting edge of technology development, together with your committed colleagues, working with new concepts as well as maturing existing designs.
You will become an expert in taking designs from sketches on a piece of paper, to serial design components operating in the offshore turbines.
We work closely with every part of the value chain, from the first steel is cut to the service technician.
How to contribute to our vision:
To succeed in this role, you need to be creative, pro-active, have a strong can-do attitude, and find it easy to cope with changes. You will join a project development team which consist of e.g., mechanical design, structural, electro-mechanical, electro-magnetic and thermal specialists working in an agile environment.
You will work with the development of concepts and mechanical engineering design of complex mechanical subsystems and components like large metallic structures, taking several aspects (Design for X) into consideration: cost, reliability, manufacturing, assembly, safety, service, quality etc.
More specifically you will work with:
Provide design support to you colleagues regarding manufacturability of steel parts.
Cost-ownership and feasibility checks
Support to the agile design team on technology and product development designs and decisions.
Large assemblies and advance shapes in 3D modeling using NX Siemens PLM. You will be using Teamcenter Siemens PLM as a document management system for e.g., administration of CAD models.
Technical documentation like 2D drafting with Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS), D-FMEA, EHS Design Risk Assessment, Tolerance Stack Analysis, Purchase specification etc.
Execute design reviews with stakeholders and balance important requirements such as quality, cost, manufacturability, serviceability, and EHS.
Participate in prototype assembly in workshop and implement lessons learned.

What you need to make a difference:
Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for:
Good knowledge of manufacturing processes like machining and welding, and preferably you have a craftsman background as e.g., blacksmith or industrial technician.
Mechanical engineering technician or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
You are an experienced user in 3D modelling and 2D drafting in a CAD tool, preferably with NX Siemens PLM software.
Strong communication skills, primarily English.
Thrive in a R&D environment, where not all the answers are known up front.
Are structured and pragmatic in dealing with issues and challenges and are not afraid of making your opinion known.
