The Team
As a DBA at Monta, you will join our existing SRE team, that is a good mix of developers and ops. We work together to keep the Monta systems running stable, fast and secure. We are a small team working closely together and learning from each other. We are never afraid of jumping into the deep and experiment with new and exciting technology.
Position Overview
As a MySQL Database Administrator (DBA), you will play a crucial role in maintaining, optimizing, and securing our company's MySQL database infrastructure. You will work closely with our development, operations, and IT teams to ensure seamless database performance, reliability, and scalability. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of MySQL database management, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and database security best practices.

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain MySQL database instances across development, testing, and production environments.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, such as performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption.
- Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database schemas, indexes, and queries.
- Implement and enforce database security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data.
- Stay current with MySQL updates, patches, and best practices, and apply them as necessary.
- Automate routine database administration tasks to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Implement and optimize CDC operations for Data Processing (Currently we use AWS DMS)
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of MySQL database management and administration.
- Strong proficiency in SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
- Experience with MySQL replication, clustering, and high availability solutions.
- Familiarity with database security principles and best practices.
- Experience with database backup and recovery tools and techniques.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with other database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, NoSQL) is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, AWS Aurora).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Go, Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with CDC operations (e.g. AWS DMS)
