The position
We are looking for a new Scientist to join our CMC Cultivation Pilot Plant team. We work with mammalian CHO cell cultures with a final volume between 500-1000L in a single use facility.
In this role, you will work at the interface between new process development and production scale-up to optimize the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) for clinical and development trials.
Your responsibilities will include:
Plan and coordinate production campaigns in a fast-paced environment
Manage raw materials and plant utilities
Manage cultivation operations in a single-use facility together with skilled process technicians
Coordinate with various stakeholders to gather and share vital information and supportDocument and report results on every production campaign
Ensure timely execution of production campaigns
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have:
A Master’s degree in biochemistry, biochemical engineering, fermentation-based manufacturing, or chemistry
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
Previous experience working in a production environment is preferred but not required
Knowledge about electronic systems is preferred; we work with PAS-X, SAP, Delta-V, LIMS, among others
As a person you are a team player who can collaborate to find solutions to production challenges and an excellent communicator with the ability toreach out to various stakeholders for support. You are comfortable with structuring and planning work with a sound quality mindset.
About the department
As part of Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply organization, CMC Development (Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control) makes a real difference for patients with chronic diseases across the world. We develop, manufacture, and distribute drug candidates for non-clinical and clinical trials which is a complicated journey that requires about 10 years of dedicated work in CMC Development.
CMC API Pilot is divided into five departments, three facilities, and two locations. The Cultivation Pilot Plants department includes pilot scale facilities for cultivation and recovery of proteins at around 1000L scale. Our pharmaceutical production processes utilise mammalian cells, yeast, and E. coli. Our purified proteins are utilised in clinical trials and developmental trials. The department consists of around 80 employees divided into 4 teams: 1 X Cultivation, 2 X Recovery teams & 1 X Support team. There is close collaboration with the API Development teams as well as across the API Pilot facilities.
