Senior Laboratory Technician for mRNA display

We are expanding our research both within our core and new therapeutic areas. We are therefore recruiting an experienced Laboratory Technician to support our de novo peptide discovery as well as engineering of new peptide formats using cutting-edge molecular and chemical biology methodologies.

The position
As a Senior Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory activities aiming to discover new therapeutic peptides and proteins. Your main task will be in the laboratory conducting peptide discovery campaigns using molecular evolution methods applying in vitro methods in a non-cellular set-up. The position requires a detail orientated mindset and the ability to be a fast learner of new laboratory techniques. You will work closely with project teams, department scientists and laboratory technicians inside and outside the department. 

Some of your key responsibilities will be: 

• Planning, performing, and evaluating discovery campaigns for de novo binder identification
• Performing and interpreting subsequent analyses (comprising molecular biology, analytical chemistry and next generation sequencing)
• Ensuring high quality of experiments and general procedures, and continuous improvement of workflows
• Supporting and engaging in cross-functional/departmental collaboration
• Ensuring optimal operation of the laboratory and implementation of new methods/technologies in collaboration with colleagues

Qualifications
To succeed in this role: 

• You are a skilled Laboratory Technician with practical experience within basic molecular biology techniques (DNA & Protein characterization/purification, PCR, NGS) 
• You have a strong interest for working in early research at the interface between chemistry and biology
• You have several years of experience from working in the industry or academia in cross functional project teams
• Practical experience within analytical methods such as HPLC and MS will be considering an advantage but is not mandatory
• Prior knowledge in molecular display technologies (e.g. mRNA display, phage display, or yeast display) will be considering an advantage but is not mandatory

You enjoy hands-on work in the laboratory and like using your technical knowledge to solve challenging tasks. You work in a structured manner and pay good attention to details when designing new protocols or experiments. As a person, you have a constructive positive mindset, and finally, since all work takes place in multidisciplinary project groups, you are a collaboration-oriented team member with good communication skills.

About the department
Research Chemistry is a well-established area within Global Research Technologies, which is part of Research and Early Development. We excel in the discovery and development of multiple molecular formats aiming to defeat serious chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity. 

In Måløv (Greater Copenhagen area, Denmark), where this position will be placed, we are organized into four departments sharing office and lab space and working together dynamically across departments. Furthermore, Research Chemistry comprises one department in Boston, United States.
