Water and Solid Waste Engineer
We are looking for a passionate water and solid waste engineer to help us ensure that we reach our ambitious 2030 goals for reductions in solid waste and water use in operations by providing guidance, tools, and strategies to all our sites for implementing mitigation actions. You will ensure the organization complies with standards and regulations related to solid waste management and water stewardship globally. We focus on improving EU taxonomy alignment and ESG ratings in the areas of water stress, water quality, and circular economy for solid waste management.
About the department
You will be part of Group Environment with 4 more talented and dynamic team members. Group Environment is part of People and Sustainability, and we seek to create positive change by reducing environmental impacts from our operations.
You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Conduct analysis of our water and solid waste management to identify impacts and risks; and recommend solutions to improve solid waste management as well as water use in stressed areas and water quality.
Support the development of guidelines / roadmaps to achieve 2030 targets for water and waste.
Develop strategies and provide guidance for water optimization in process operations (especially in water-stressed areas) and circular waste management (minimizing solid waste generation and maximizing resource efficiency).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and communicate best practices to tackle water and solid waste issues.
Monitor and report on dashboards the progress of water and solid waste reductions, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Conduct IRO and DNSH assessments related to water and waste to pursue EU taxonomy alignment.
Keep updated about the latest regulations and developments on sustainable water and waste management to incorporate emerging trends and best practices into the organization's strategy and operations.
Support through feedback data reporting internally and externally.
You have (Your qualifications):
> 3 years work experience in circular waste management ensuring reuse/recycling of solid waste in process operations.
> 3 years work experience in water stewardship , ensuring water recirculation in process operations.
MSc or PhD degree in engineering, sustainability, or a related field.
Deep knowledge on water stewardship, improving water quality, water use in stressed areas, water optimization in operational processes, water circularity, EU water directive.
Deep knowledge on solid waste management, including circular economy, ‘R’ approach, circular business models, EU waste directive.
Passion for water stewardship and waste management with engagement to create positive impact.
Strong analytical skills to conduct comprehensive analyses of water and waste data.
Good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
