Head of Operations, NVAC

 The Novo Nordisk Foundation Initiative for Vaccines and Immunity (NIVI), launched in May 2024, is composed of two entities: the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Vaccines and Immunity (NCVI), a state-of-the-art research centre anchored at the University of Copenhagen, and the Novo Nordisk Foundation Vaccine Accelerator (NVAC), a company owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation to advance translational sciences and the development of novel vaccines.

Within the initiative, NCVI will be responsible for vaccine research, while NVAC will facilitate rapid development of new vaccine candidates by accelerating the translation of the centre’s research results into phase 1 and 2 clinical studies.  NVAC will also lead robust development plans that ensure efficient handover to a partner for late-stage development. Thus, NIVI will bridge the divisions between science, innovation, clinical application, regulatory considerations, and development.

The Job

As the Head of Operations for NVAC, you will lead all aspects of business operations (e.g., procurements and vendor management, office management, business compliance, security, and staffing processes) and ensure that NVAC business and scientific goals are delivered through the processes and operating procedures you design, build, implement and drive.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will cover many aspects of Operations, Compliance, Finance and People & Organisation and include;

• Develop, maintain and oversee NVAC business operations, compliance, security policies and business standard operating procedures.​
• Operational management of physical premises.​
• Responsible for Service License Agreements and/or third party vendors for the provision of business support.​
• Management of vendors, consultants, procurement, and suppliers for business operations.
• Establishment of business organizational culture, employment conditions and processes, policies and guidelines.​
• Proactively contribute to a professional and positive atmosphere in the company.
• Designated security, compliance, and data privacy representative for NVAC.

About you

As a person, you possess a ‘can-do’ problem-solver attitude, proactive mindset, and excellent interpersonal skills. You demonstrate initiative and have a natural sense for how to prioritize tasks, forge strong collaborations, build teams, and foster a positive culture.

Professional competencies:

• Master (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
• Direct experience from organizations with start-up nature.
• Experience of business organizational development from processes through to compliance.
• Hands on project management.
• Preferably operational experience from a technical environment, ideally within the biologics R&D field.
• Apply to navigate and work effectively within matrix organizations.
• Documented business operations & finance experience.
